The Family Caregivers Alliance provides a wealth of resources
for caregivers – including people attempting to care for sick or
elderly parents. For residents of the Bay Area, FCA offers a number of
specialized services for caregivers: consultation on care planning (including
free in-home assessment of caregiver and care receiver’s needs),
free legal/financial consultation, emotional support, counseling, educational

The different retreat centers mentioned here represent a range of spiritual orientations that not every individual would feel comfortable with. But each center offers a quiet retreat setting for personal prayer and contemplation. New Camaldoli Hermitage. The monks at the New Camaldoli
offer a quiet, worshipful atmosphere for silent retreats in a breathtaking
mountainside setting overlooking the Big Sur coastline. The hermitage

or an extended spiritual retreat, Schloss Mittersill offers a unique venue.
This Christian conference/retreat center is housed in a 12th Century castle
near Mittersill, Austria. This English-speaking ministry located in the
Austrian Alps offers a spectacular setting for personal retreats, and
retreats can be combined with conferences from an excellent conference
schedule. The Mercy Center in Burlingame, California, offers personal
retreats of different kinds. Individuals can arrange for retreats of various
lengths, as short as one day.

The Henri Nouwen Society offers daily devotionals/meditations
from Christian author Henri Nouwen. Subscribers to a free daily service
receive short devotionals by email.
